Engineering Manager
Orca
Location: Remote
Orca’s vision is to build a financial system that puts people first. We envision a future where the majority of global financial transactions are driven by CLAMMs and other Decentralized Finance (DeFi) products. Our ambition reaches beyond becoming the leading provider of financial primitives in crypto—we aim to reshape the foundation of finance itself. We are building the next NASDAQ. If you are someone who is tired of just working another job and wants to build something meaningful, then we invite you to join our team.
What You’ll Do
- People Management: Lead a team of talented engineers by supporting their growth, helping them solve technical challenges, and ensuring they have the resources to succeed. Foster a culture of ownership, resilience, and authenticity within the team.
- Technical Leadership: Collaborate closely with technical leads to define system architecture, improve technical decision-making, and establish engineering best practices. While this role will involve minimal coding, a strong technical background is required to provide guidance and evaluate technical decisions.
- Operational Efficiency: Improve processes to ensure effective collaboration across teams. Drive project execution, improve team communication, and reduce bottlenecks.
- Team Growth: Recruit, onboard, and mentor engineers to expand the team. Identify talent gaps and work with leadership to fill those needs.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Product, Design, and Business teams to ensure alignment on priorities and deliverables.
- Incident Response and Reliability: Ensure your team builds systems that are highly available and resilient. Help drive incident reviews and ensure lessons are documented and addressed.
What You’ll Bring
- Engineering Background: You have prior experience as a software engineer, ideally in frontend or infrastructure. While you won’t be writing production code in most situations, you’ll be expected to understand technical trade-offs, assess technical difficulty to coordinate effectively, and support engineers in making decisions.
- Proven Leadership Skills: Experience managing engineers in a high-growth or fast-paced environment. Proven ability to empower engineers and foster strong team culture.
- Organization & Communication: Highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to effectively manage multiple stakeholders across engineering, product, and business teams.
- Ownership Mentality: You embrace agency, identify solutions, and push them forward with minimal oversight.
- Resilience: You embrace change, adapt to new challenges, and guide your team through uncertainty with confidence.
- DeFi Understanding (Nice to Have): Familiarity with decentralized finance, Solana, or AMMs is a bonus but not required.

Hiring Process We like to be transparent and efficient. We move fast. We believe this process gives candidates the best experience in getting decisions quickly instead of long, drawn out interview rounds that last weeks.
Initial Screen (50-60 min)
This is an opportunity for us to better understand your experience and knowledge of Solana and DeFi, and an opportunity for you to learn more about the role and company (20-30 min). In the same session, we might ask you to advance directly to a coding exercise so we can evaluate your technical proficiency (30 min).
Engineering Round (60 min each) + COO Chat (20min) This round will consist of multiple interviews focused on leadership, communication, and technical alignment. It will involve Otto (Head of Engineering), Jonathan, and Zach (Sr Engineer). You will also have a chat with Isaac, our COO. This is a chance for you to learn about Orca's history, present status, and its bright future.
