Step is looking to hire an experienced and enthusiastic DevOps Engineer to provide hands-on development and support for all aspects of our AWS infrastructure, CI/CD environment, API Firewall, and Database Systems.

The primary responsibility of this role will be to maintain and expand our infrastructure as needed complete with dashboards and monitoring. This role will involve a mix of independent work and collaboration with engineering teams focused on AWS infrastructure and automation.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Deploy, maintain, and manage an AWS production system
• Design, maintain, and manage automation of operational processes
• Create and configure monitoring for and have working knowledge of a Postgres and/or Clickhouse database
• Ensure AWS systems are available, reliable, secure, and scalable
• Manage the creation, release, and configuration of production systems
• Provide primary support for cloud deployments
• Maintain and improve the organization’s cloud infrastructure
• Troubleshoot issues across multiple application domains and platforms
• Collaborate with the core engineering team to lead the organization’s platform security efforts
• Evaluate new technologies and products that can enhance or replace existing systems
• Recommend architecture and process improvements
• Monitor and expand our API firewall with proper bot detection and scaling

Required Skills and Experience

• 3+ years of experience in AWS environment operation and management
• Experience building AWS environments
• Experience using infrastructure as code, preferably with Terraform
• Experience developing code in at least one high-level programming language
• Experience with AWS services such as ECS, EC2, S3, CloudFront, SNS, Elastic ache, and Lambda
• Experience creating automated infrastructures
• Experience in CI/CD
• Experience protecting public API endpoints from bot attacks
• Knowledge of operating system administration
• Knowledge of database system monitoring
• Knowledge of securing AWS environments
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
