The role

Solayer is seeking a Senior Researcher who will take a pivotal role in crafting rules and mechanisms that ensure the smooth operation of our decentralized network. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to shape the very foundation of Solayer, designing mechanisms that prioritize decentralization, economic security, spam prevention, interoperability with existing infrastructure, and user-friendliness.

Collaborating closely with our engineering team, you'll spearhead the design and testing of various mechanisms. Drawing upon your extensive expertise and insights into mechanisms utilized in current blockchain ecosystems, you'll assess options for Solayer's design, focusing on enhancing its security, decentralization, and performance. Your contributions will span a broad spectrum of areas, including transaction sequencing, staking protocols, and consensus algorithms. Ultimately, your efforts will be instrumental in safeguarding our network against security vulnerabilities and the risks associated with centralization. Required skills

  • Deep knowledge and experience in designing and implementing blockchain mechanisms and policies
  • Strong engineering and architectural understanding of the blockchain economics design
  • Important areas of expertise includes Transaction ordering/MEV Staking and economic security (delegation economics; slashing conditions; stake pools) Consensus mechanisms (pBFT, tendermint, Gasper, PoH) Spam prevention * Trustlessness and decentralization (light clients; merkle proofs; security guarantees of various L1s and rollups)

What you will do

  • Designing and analyzing, at times implementing, mechanisms across various domains, including transaction ordering, staking, spam prevention, light clients, and horizontal / vertical systems scaling
  • Designing fee marketplace
  • Keeping abreast of mechanism design advancements in other blockchains and developing informed perspectives on best practices.
  • Collaborating closely with our engineering team to develop and test new mechanism options.
  • Documenting your findings for both internal and external audiences.
