Orca’s vision is to build a financial system that puts people first. We envision a future where the majority of global financial transactions are driven by CLAMMs and other Decentralized Finance (DeFi) products. Our ambition reaches beyond becoming the leading provider of financial primitives in crypto—we aim to reshape the foundation of finance itself. We are building the next NASDAQ. If you are someone who is tired of just working another job and wants to build something meaningful, then we invite you to join our team.

As an infrastructure Engineer at Orca, you will play a key role in shaping the backbone of our systems and workflows. Your mission will be to ensure our infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and efficient, empowering the engineering team to deliver high-impact solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and Evolve Infrastructure Stack: Manage and enhance Orca’s infrastructure, which includes Terraform and AWS ECS, ensuring it is well-defined, scalable, and resilient as user activity, pool count, and transaction volume grow.
  • Strengthen RPC Resilience: Continuously improve our redundant and failover-ready Solana RPC infrastructure—built on providers like Triton and Helius—to ensure ultra-high uptime and reliability, even during periods of extreme network congestion.
  • Elevate Observability: Own and enhance our existing monitoring, logging, and alerting systems—primarily built on Datadog and Sentry—to improve visibility, accelerate issue detection, and ensure system reliability. Support the effectiveness of our team-wide on-call rotation by maintaining actionable alerts and reducing operational noise.
  • Promote Stability and Scalability: Architect systems that handle growth effortlessly, minimize downtime, and maintain high performance.
  • Collaborate on System Design: Partner with engineering teams to design and refine infrastructure that powers features like real-time monitoring, automated transaction execution, and analytics.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven Experience: A strong track record of working on high-performance, scalable systems with expertise in release engineering, infrastructure, and operations.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with Rust and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform is a plus but not required. Strong interest and proficiency in building high performance backend systems.
  • Validator or Systems Expertise: Either hands-on experience running and maintaining Solana validators—including a working knowledge of their capabilities, limitations, and operational requirements—or a solid foundation in distributed systems that enables rapid ramp-up on validator infrastructure and consensus-critical systems.
  • Observability Knowledge: Familiarity with tools like Datadog to build actionable monitoring and alerting systems.
  • Balanced Mindset: Comfortable working independently in an async environment while collaborating effectively with a team. You understand trade-offs and advocate for pragmatic solutions.
  • AI Forwardness: We’re looking for flexible thinkers who are open to leveraging AI tools to enhance developer productivity and workflows. You’re curious about the evolving AI landscape and willing to adapt your development practices as the tools mature.
  • Understanding of DeFi: Familiarity with Decentralized Finance (DeFi) concepts, AMMs, and the Solana ecosystem is a plus but not required.

Our hiring process

Orca is transparent and efficient. We move fast, and this process will be short and intense. We believe our process enables us to make decisions quickly so we avoid long, drawn out interview rounds that last weeks.

Initial Screen (50-60 min)

This is an opportunity for us to better understand your experience and knowledge of Solana and DeFi, and an opportunity for you to learn more about the role and company (20-30 min). In the same session, we might ask you to advance directly to a coding exercise so we can evaluate your technical proficiency (30 min).

Technical Interviews (60 min each) + COO Chat (20min)

This round will consist of 3 open-ended coding interviews back-to-back all conducted the same day. It will be with an engineering lead and two engineers from the team.

You will also have a chat with Isaac, our COO. This is a chance for you to learn about Orca's history, present status, and its bright future.
