• Solve interesting problems: currently, we're working on how grants decisions can be made with markets. We need to evaluate problems like 'how can we create financial contracts that pay out relative to grant effectiveness?' and 'could we automatically halt grant payments based on market prices?' Noone has built market-governed grants programs before, so this is a greenfield for creative problem-solving.
• Have a big impact: replacing managers with markets is a radical change. If we're successful, you would have been a part of that.

Why NOT MetaDAO?

• The path is unpaved: there is no playbook for building a successful decision market platform. We rapidly iterate our own understanding of how best to grow the platform, and we expect any contributors to be able to do the same.
• This is our lives: we love what we do and often don't see it as work. If work-life balance is something you care a lot about, this is probably not for you.
• We're in-office in SF: we believe that proximity is paramount for early-stage endeavours. We're in SF because it's the highest density of capital and high-performing people in the world, and we expect any full-time contributors in-office with us.

Compensation

To attract the best people, our goal is to provide competitive cash compensation and high upside in the long-term success of MetaDAO. Token compensation is subject to a four-year lockup from the date of joining.

Interview Process

3. Take Home - 2-4 hour take home project
4. Deep Dive - 45 minute chat with one of the founders to go over what you built in detail
5. Weekend Hack - 2 day, paid, in office undertaking with the team

We're a DAO governed by futarchy, so any offer will be submitted to the markets, ultimately decided on chain. This process is similar to taking a candidate to the company's board.

Role

As the founding engineer, you would manage all aspects of our backend and smart contract stack. You will be instrumental in designing and implementing new systems and protocols relevant to MetaDAO.

Requirements:

• Demonstrably excellent at solving engineering problems with code.
• Has a high preference for simple solutions over complex ones.
• Obsessed with delighting the customer.
• Excellent verbal and written communication ability.

Nice-to-haves:

• Worked with SVM-based or EVM-based smart contracts in the past.
• Worked across the stack including on frontends, middleware, and databases.
• Understands the basics of how markets operate (e.g., order books, AMMs, derivatives, et cetera).
